Associate Instructor
Type: Part-Time
Division: DFW & Houston
Compensation: $20/hr plus an additional $25 bonus for each offsite school program.
Responsibilities:
Teach students of varying skill levels using our well-structured chess curriculum.
Travel across the metroplex to deliver engaging and educational chess lessons at school locations.
Lead and facilitate chess activities during summer camps at our designated locations.
Assist in Tournament Direction and Open Play Nights.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of chess and a genuine passion for the game.
Availability for at least two weekday afternoons to accommodate our school program schedule.
Reliable transportation for travel to different school locations.
Teaching experience is a plus but not required; a willingness to engage and inspire students is essential.
Strong organizational and time management skills to ensure effective program delivery.
Service Associate
Type: Part-Time
Division: DFW & Houston
Compensation: $20/hr plus an additional $25 bonus for each offsite school program.
Responsibilities
Teach students of various skill levels using our structured chess curriculum
Travel throughout the metroplex to deliver engaging, age-appropriate chess lessons at local schools
Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors while providing clear information about our programs
Help set up, run, and support chess tournaments, club events, and play nights
Accurately maintain records of student registrations, attendance, and payments
Assist with basic office tasks such as organizing supplies, maintaining inventory, and keeping workspaces tidy
Facilitate chess-related activities and provide supervision during camps at our designated locations
Qualifications
Experience working with school-aged children is a plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a dynamic environment
Friendly, customer-focused attitude and strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of chess is helpful but not required — training is provided
High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant coursework or certifications are a bonus

The Location Supervisor serves as the on-site manager and operational lead, responsible for overseeing staff, directing programs and events, and ensuring high standards in customer service, compliance, and facility operations, while also performing instructional duties.
Supervision & Operations Management (65%)
Serve as the highest on-site authority during operating hours, responsible for independently overseeing daily operations and enforcing company policies.
Supervise, direct, and evaluate part-time staff and instructors; assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and implement operational improvements.
Address staff performance, and provide documented recommendations related to hiring, promotions, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
Train new staff in procedures, customer service standards, and compliance-related expectations.
Oversee and make decisions regarding the facility’s operational performance, including safety standards, customer service benchmarks, and visual presentation.
Maintain accurate financial oversight of the site’s cash handling, point-of-sale .
Maintain and manage records related to student enrollments, payments, memberships, and service modifications using administrative platforms such as Retool and Stripe.
Coordinate with senior management on broader operational planning, reporting performance metrics, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending policy improvements.
Function as the primary location liaison to students, parents, and community members, providing authoritative guidance on programming and issue resolution.
Exercise discretion in handling customer escalations, ensuring appropriate service recovery aligned with company policies.
Oversee membership services, including onboarding, renewals, cancellations, and service adjustments.
Represent the company’s leadership in delivering high-quality, client-facing experiences that drive retention and program growth.
Instructional & Tournament Management (35%)
Deliver high-quality chess instruction using the TCC Curriculum at company sites and affiliated school locations; support program quality through feedback and lesson refinement.
Provide individualized instruction for advanced students and contribute to the development of training approaches for high-performing players.
Serve as Chief Tournament Director for USCF- and FIDE-rated tournaments, overseeing all compliance, staff coordination, and real-time adjudication.
Utilize professional discretion to resolve disputes, ensure tournament integrity, and maintain behavioral standards, including blacklist oversight.
Administer tournament logistics: registration, pairings (via Caissa), prize payout, and error resolution in rating reports.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; some college or relevant certifications in education, business, or management preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to independently manage staff, schedules, and operational responsibilities.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with the ability to lead onsite operations during high-traffic events.
Professional demeanor with proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and provide constructive feedback.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with patience, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
Prior teaching, coaching, or tournament directing experience (chess or similar structured programs) strongly preferred.
