Program Associate
Type: Part-Time
Division: DFW & Houston
Compensation: $20/hr plus an additional $25 bonus per offsite school program drive.
Position Summary: The Program Associate plays a key role in delivering engaging chess instruction to students and supporting a variety of program activities, including tournaments, camps, and customer service operations.
Responsibilities:
Deliver structured chess lessons to students of various skill levels at local schools across the metroplex.
Facilitate and supervise engaging chess activities during summer camps.
Assist in directing tournaments, supervising open-play nights, and supporting club events.
Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors, providing clear and friendly information about our programs.
Accurately maintain records of student registrations, attendance, and payments.
Provide outstanding customer service and assist families with program-related inquiries.
Support basic office tasks, including organizing supplies, maintaining inventory, and keeping workspaces neat and organized.
Qualifications:
Genuine interest in chess (basic knowledge helpful; training provided); experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable interacting with students, parents, and staff.
Employment is contingent upon completion of a provided background check and training.
Plano Location Supervisor
Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $47,840 - $52,000

Position Summary: The Location Supervisor serves as the on-site manager and operational lead, responsible for overseeing staff, directing programs and events, and ensuring high standards in customer service, compliance, and facility operations, while also performing instructional duties.
Supervision & Operations Management (65%)
Serve as the highest on-site authority during operating hours, responsible for independently overseeing daily operations and enforcing company policies.
Supervise, direct, and evaluate part-time staff and instructors; assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and implement operational improvements.
Address staff performance, and provide documented recommendations related to hiring, promotions, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
Train new staff in procedures, customer service standards, and compliance-related expectations.
Oversee and make decisions regarding the facility’s operational performance, including safety standards, customer service benchmarks, and visual presentation.
Maintain accurate financial oversight of the site’s cash handling, point-of-sale .
Maintain and manage records related to student enrollments, payments, memberships, and service modifications using administrative platforms such as Retool and Stripe.
Coordinate with senior management on broader operational planning, reporting performance metrics, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending policy improvements.
Function as the primary location liaison to students, parents, and community members, providing authoritative guidance on programming and issue resolution.
Exercise discretion in handling customer escalations, ensuring appropriate service recovery aligned with company policies.
Oversee membership services, including onboarding, renewals, cancellations, and service adjustments.
Represent the company’s leadership in delivering high-quality, client-facing experiences that drive retention and program growth.
Classroom Instruction & Tournament Direction (35%)
Deliver high-quality chess instruction using the TCC Curriculum at company sites and affiliated school locations; support program quality through feedback and lesson refinement.
Provide individualized instruction for advanced students and contribute to the development of training approaches for high-performing players.
Serve as Chief Tournament Director for USCF- and FIDE-rated tournaments, overseeing all compliance, staff coordination, and real-time adjudication.
Utilize professional discretion to resolve disputes, ensure tournament integrity, and maintain behavioral standards, including blacklist oversight.
Administer tournament logistics: registration, pairings (via Caissa), prize payout, and error resolution in rating reports.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or certifications in education, business, or management preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to manage staff, schedules, and operations independently.
Flexible availability, including evenings/weekends, and capable of leading during busy events.
Professional leader with strong communication, team management, delegation, and feedback skills, complemented by patience, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
Prior teaching, coaching, or tournament directing experience (chess or similar structured programs) strongly preferred.
