How do I get a FIDE ID? Play in one of our FIDE tournaments and complete the registration form—we’ll take care of it for you. Alternatively, you can contact USCF to request an ID. To earn an official FIDE rating, you must play five games against previously FIDE-rated opponents, score at least ½ point total, and achieve a performance rating of at least 1400. USCF monthly ratings are used for pairings. The default late-forfeit time is one hour. Re-entry is available for half the late-fee price.

First three GMs/IMs to enter are guaranteed at least $200 (GM) / $100 (IM) if they play all rounds; offer valid until the late-fee deadline. Players with a lifetime peak FIDE rating of 2300+ may enter free before the late-fee deadline. Email info@texaschesscenter.com to register under these conditions.

Entry List available after first price tier has ended

Pairings and standings can now be found LIVE at https://TexasChessCenter.ChessRoster.com. In the event of any discrepancy, the onsite paper copies shall be held to be definitive.

Tournament Policies:

Pairings: A non-definitive courtesy copy of the pairings may be found at https://texaschesscenter.chessroster.com/. In the event of any conflict, the onsite paper copies shall be held to be definitive. Posted pairings may be changed in the event of unforeseen circumstances or error (see FIDE rule C.04.2.4.4).

Tournament Refund Policy: For FIDE-rated and championship tournaments, participants are eligible for a full refund if they cancel more than 48 hours before the tournament begins. If cancellation occurs between 48 hours and 2 hours before the start time, a 50% refund will be issued. No refunds are provided for cancellations made within 2 hours of the tournament start time or for no-shows. No refunds are issued for cancellations within 2 hours of the start time or for no-shows. To cancel your registration, please contact us before the applicable deadline. Refunds are typically processed within five business days.

Late Arrival and Default Forfeiture Time: Players arriving more than 30 minutes late without prior notice risk forfeiting their games or having their opponents reassigned in accordance with FIDE rule C.04.2.4.4.3; any late-arriving player, whether notice given or not, will forfeit if not arrived to the playing hall by 60 minutes after the round has begun. Present players with a no-showing opponent may be offered a different opponent that round at an appropriately reduced time control, if an odd player exists, in accordance with the same FIDE rule.

Playing Up: You may request to compete in a higher section for an additional fee if you meet the criteria below.

1 ) If either your Monthly or Live (or even Provisional) rating is within 150 points of the floor of the section above you, then you qualify to play up. Furthermore, if your Live/Provisional actually meets or exceeds the next section’s floor, you can play up without paying a fee at all.

- Example A: If you want to play in an 1800+ section, and your Monthly rating is 1620, but your Live rating is 1739... then you are eligible to play up, because even though your Monthly rating is not in the 150-point range, your Live rating is!
- Example B: If you want to play in an 1800+ section, and your Monthly rating is 1620, but your Live rating is 1647... then you’re not yet eligible to play up, because neither your Monthly rating nor your Live rating are quite in the 150-point range yet. But who knows, maybe just one more tourney will get your Live rating over the hump in time for the next one!
- Example C: If you want to play in an 1800+ section and your Monthly rating is 1620, but your Live rating is 1809... then you’re eligible to play up with no fee at all, because you’ve already earned the 1800+ privilege directly on the chessboard!

2) If you don’t have a USCF rating yet, but you do have a FIDE rating or substantiated online chess rating, you can request to play up based on that alternate rating, provided that it is reasonably correlated with the section that you’re seeking. (The FIDE conversion formula we use is [USCF = (-1073 + 1.5667*FIDE if FIDE ≤ 2000) OR (20 + 1.02 × FIDE if FIDE > 2000)].

US Chess Membership: An Active US Chess Membership is required unless you are a Titled player with a Foreign-Federation FIDE ID #.

Supplies: Boards, clocks, pieces, notation sheets, and pencils all provided.

Capacity: Limited to 92 Players.
